Police have arrested four people after an Upper Hutt home owner disturbed them trying to break into their property.

Three men ran off, and were tracked down, leaving a woman behind.

One of the four, a 28-year-old man, was wanted for arrest on other matters including a previous serious assault.

He will now face those charges along with an attempted burglary charge along with the other three offenders.
