Four people have been arrested over a daylight robbery at a Napier supermarket today.

Hawkes Bay Police say a man walked into a Four Square store in Greenmeadows about 1:30pm.

He was disguised and holding a hammer as he entered the store and intimidated staff.

The man made off with cash and cigarettes.

Help from the public led Police to a vehicle in Riverbend Road this afternoon.

When Police stopped the vehicle, they found stolen items from the supermarket.

A 42-year-old local man and three local youths were arrested at the scene and will appear in court this week.
