Former New Zealand cricket captain Chris Cairns is scheduled to appear in a London court today to begin his legal fight against perjury charges.

Cairns has pleaded not guilty to a perjury charge stemming from a 2012 libel trial in Britain over alleged match-fixing.

He will appear in Southwark Crown Court in front Justice Nigel Sweeney at a hearing scheduled to last four weeks.

Former New Zealand cricketers Shane Bond and Andre Adams are among those scheduled to testify, as well as current skipper Brendon McCullum.
