Updated 9.27pm:Â Reports have come through that one person is dead after gunshots rang out across Myers Park in Central Auckland earlier this evening.
Police, fire and an ambulance have all responded to the park but police are refusing to say what's happened.
One man told the New Zealand Herald he heard what sounded like five or six shots being fired from within the park.
Another witness says a sheet can be seen covering what appears to be a body, with a police officer standing guard close by.
Residents in the many apartments bordering Myers Park have been tweeting about hearing gunshots and describing the scene.
Emergency vehicles are parked on the Mayoral Drive over-bridge, which borders the park, with their lights flashing.
An emergency lighting and power unit from the Fire Service is also at the scene
