A 36-year-old south Auckland steelworker has been arrested over a homicide from the early hours of this morning.

24-year-old Chevy Midas Davis was found dead in a driveway on Fisher Crescent in Otara at around 1am today, after a fight broke out at a 21st birthday party.

Detective Inspector Dave Lynch says it appears an argument over music sparked the confrontation which lead to Mr Davis' death.

He says further arrests and charges are still a possibility.

The 36-year-old man will appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow, charged with murder, and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
