A man has been arrested after he assaulted a Foxton Police officer and set his dog on him.
The officer was called to the Foxton Work and Income office before midday after the 40 year old had been acting angrily and causing issues.
The man became aggressive and was pepper sprayed outside the building - but it proved ineffective.
He then punched the officer and set his dog on him before taking off in a car.
Another police unit tried to pull the man over but he fled to a Bainesse address.
When officers arrived at the property they were confronted by the man who was wielding a metal bar.
After appealing for the man to put the bar down, the man was tasered and taken into custody.
