Around $15,000 worth of the V energy drink has been stolen from South Auckland.

Eight pellets of cans were stolen from a commercial property in Wiri overnight on December 15.

Inspector Bruce O'Brien says given the large quantity of cans, it's likely the offenders are looking to offload it as soon as possible.

He says they could be attempting to sell them cheaply, or perhaps someone will be receiving a pellet of V for Christmas.

Inspector O'Brien reminds the public that receiving stolen property is a crime.
