Shocking footage has emerged of a unoccupied house left in ruins after an open-invite party.

The party was held at a house in Dairy Flat, Auckland, which was under renovation, on September 16. It resulted in about $100,000 worth of damage.

Waitemata Police have released footage of the aftermath, which shows walls kicked in and tagged, smashed windows and glass strewn across the floor. A toilet had also been ripped out of the bathroom floor and smashed.

"The gathering was unlawful and was organised by an individual who used social media Facebook and Instagram to send out an open invite," police said on the Waitemata Police Facebook page.

Police attended the home at about midnight on the evening of the party, as partygoers spilled out on to Dairy Flat Highway.

An inspection of the property the following day revealed a "serious level" of damage to the house both internally and externally.

Police have appealed to anyone who attended the party or who knows the person who organised the party, in an effort to identify those responsible for the damage.

"Parents if you know your teens attended this party, have a sit down and speak with them," police said.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact Sergeant Mark Ovington at the Orewa Police Station or email [email protected] or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
