A controversial water bottling consent granted to a Chinese company operating in Canterbury cannot be appealed.
Cloud Water Group owns the former Kaputone Wool Scour which comes with a consent to draw up to 4.3 million litres of aquifer water a day.
The company applied to use the water for commercial bottling, and despite a petition with almost 70,000 signatures, ECan has ruled the bottling can go ahead.
Operational Manager Tania Harris said there are no appeal rights involved.
"The resource management act sets out what we need to considered and that has been done and documented in that decision."
Harris said the Council's role is to look at the volume of water being taken and the effect of its use, and in this case, the effects would be minor.
