For the second time in two months, a truck is wedged into a North Canterbury service station forecourt roof.

The truck driver drove into the forecourt of the Amberly Z about three this morning so he could clean his windscreen, but misjudged the height of the roof.

Topp Stop Cafe owner Zoe Topp, said the truck was there when she arrived at work at 5.30am and she spoke to the driver.

"He told us that he wanted to clean his windscreen off because he'd been driving through the night, didn't think, went under and yeah, it's too tall."

It's the second time a truck has been caught under the forecourt in the past couple of months - in October Topp's own father got stuck under the roof.

"My own father, who owns an earthmoving company out here in Amberley, decided to take a shortcut through the forecourt and actually damaged the panels."

Topp said the forecourt roof is badly damaged and a crane is setting up to lift the canopy off the truck, while the refrigerated truck, which is carrying muscles, is starting to defrost.
