The boss of two employees caught having a late night encounter in a Christchurch office says the company is taking the matter very seriously.

The incident in the Rabobank building, took place in full view of patrons of the Carlton Bar, who took pictures and posted them on social media.

One witness posted on Facebook that the couple were oblivious to the attention, and celebrated later with wine.

Marsh Limited CEO Grant Milne says the company does not condone that sort of behaviour.

"We have policies in place and we need to have a conversation with the individuals around that."

Executives from the company's Auckland office are flying down to handle the matter.

Grant Milne says executives are travelling from Auckland to help in handling the situation.

"Matters like these are treated as very serious."
