Former Christchurch MP Nicky Wagner's been handed back the city's rebuild portfolio in Simon Bridges' new shadow cabinet.

Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey's held the role since November, after Wagner lost her Christchurch Central seat to Labour's Duncan Webb.

But, in Simon Bridges' shadow cabinet reshuffle, she's been given the Greater Christchurch Regeneration spokesperson role back.

She says happy to have the role back, and says there's already a couple of issues she's keen to get stuck in to.

Wagner says she's keen to get stuck into what's happening - or rather, or what's not - with the city's Metro Sports Facility.

"They've had a report that days it's the right thing to do, but they are still dickering around with how they are going to handle the metro sports with the stadium."

She says the city's future will miss out as result.

"There's too many young people missing out on sporting experiences because we're really dragging the chain at the moment."

Nicky Wagner has also gained a new portfolio in Arts, Culture and Heritage.
