A Christchurch mother who felt forced to move out of her rental property is frustrated by a government report that shows there are no health risks in living in a meth-contaminated home.
A new report by the Prime Minister's Chief Science Advisor says there is no scientific evidence that third-hand exposure to methamphetamine causes harm to people's health.
Michelle Gilchrist was told her meth-contaminated home was inhabitable so she moved her two young kids out and threw away potentially contaminated furniture and clothing.
She says it's upsetting she didn't have this clarity during her plight.
"All I wanted was some answers because when you have the meth test people tell you yourself the levels are so high and so bad and you're going to have to ditch this thing and the next thing, you just don't know."
