Fewer people are saying 'I do' in Christchurch according to new figures.
Numbers released by Statistics New Zealand show there were 1740 weddings in Christchurch in 2017, 21 less than the previous year.
The amount of weddings in the Garden City hasn't picked up post quake with 2094 weddings taking place nine years ago.
Local wedding planner Emma Newman says that comes as no surprise.
"People put things on the backburner, other things come into play like having to fight insurance companies. Also making sure your children are alright and just the general worries about money and housing repairs."
Despite there bring less marriages people in the wedding industry aren't feeling the pinch.
Emma Newman says demand for her services remains high.
"I guess I'm at the high end if someone has the money to spend on a wedding planner but yes I'm happy to say business is going well."
Christchurch City has seen a 17 per cent decrease in weddings from 2008 to last year.
