UPDATE 1.10PM: A body found in Lake Benmore is believed to be that of missing Canterbury man, George Agnew.

A family friend has confirmed the discovery today.

The 66-year-old's been missing since Saturday, after failing to return home from a camping trip.

His dog, car and boat had all been found at Lake Benmore.

A give-a-little page set up by a friend of Agnew's daughter has raised more than $16,000.

The money will be used to reimburse family members who are hired helicopters to assist the search.
