A Christchurch real estate agent has been found not guilty of disgraceful conduct after the death of Matti McEachen outside a property he managed during the 2011 earthquake.
Christopher Chapman was the property manager of Southern Ink where Matti was killed by falling masonry as he tried to flee the building.
It was alleged Mr. Chapman failed to inform tenants that the building was unsafe after the September quake.
Matti's father Bruce McEachen says his family are gobsmacked by the Real Estate Agent Disciplinary Tribunal's decision.
"The weight of evidence presented at the Real Estate Agent Tribunal is huge and to find the decision has gone the other way makes you lost for words."
Bruce McEachen is unsure as yet if they will appeal the decision saying the last seven years have been really tiring.Â
