A chance tonight for the people of Christchurch to give their views on assisted suicide.
Act leader David Seymour is hosting a public meeting at Avonhead School tonight at 6.30 to discuss euthanasia and his End of Life Choice Bill.
His bill proposes that any New Zealand citizen 18 years or older will be eligible for assisted dying, if they have a terminal illness, or meet other criteria.
David Seymour believes it is a chance for people to hear the facts.
"To show it is possible to design a compassionate law that gives protection to those who do not want anything to do with assisted dying while giving choice to those who do want to choose how they go and when they go if they are very sick."
Seymour said older people are generally more supportive of choice and assisted suicide.
* This story has been amended to make clear that Seymour will be in Christchurch on Thursday evening.
