Christchurch City Councillors will today put an end to a six-year saga between residents and sex workers.
Manchester Street residents suggested a bylaw pushing sex workers back into the CDB after finding used condoms and faeces in their yards.
Instead, council staff suggest a non-regulatory approach with agencies working together to encourage sex workers to conduct business elsewhere.
However, Central City Councillor, Deon Swiggs fears this won't be the end of the road for residents.
"The problem is that a number of them don't actually listen to what they're being told and they have just been sticking their heels in and staying in the northern part of Bealey."
Swiggs said he doesn't think other councillors will opt for the bylaw.
"I'm still a bit disappointed that we can't use a bit more of a regulatory approach because the none regularity approach so far hasn't been working.'
He said they need to work with central government to amend the Prostitution Reform Act - limiting places sex workers can conduct their business.
