Some Christchurch homeowners are being forced to move out of their new homes because they aren't watertight.
As many as 30 residents are battling to get their properties up to scratch after the buildings were found to be leaky.
The Home Owners and Buyers Association has written to Registered Master Builders and Licensed Building Practitioners on their behalf.
Association president John Gray says its group is taking on people who've tried - and failed - to get builders to fix the problems.
"They're quite at a loss. They've put their faith in the insurance company...the company's charged to oversee this work and the companies that were actually contracted to build. There are serious issues."
Gray says it's demanding the repairs, but who knows if that will meet the standard.
"Actually meeting the performance and durability requirements of the building code - It's a very simple ask, but they've failed to do it the first time round and we have concerns about whether or not they'll achieve it in the second chance they get. We're very disturbed at what we're seeing."
Gray says if discussions doesn't remedy the situation, home owners are forced to take legal action.
