Surface flooding is easing in South Canterbury.
NZTA's maintenance contract manager John Keenan says the area's pretty much back to normal after a wet weekend - but some surface flooding remains.
He says it's well sign-posted, but people should slow down and drive cautiously where there's water on the road.
Timaru to Fairlie, Ashburton to Rangitata and Fairlie to Geraldine are some of the stretches of road drivers should take extra care on.
And Timaru District Council's Stephen Doran says they managed to fix most hammered stretches of road yesterday.
