UPDATED 8:35am: Police are expected today to confirm a body found in Christchurch's Port Hills is that of Hayden Cossey.

The 33-year-old has been missing for over two weeks - sparking a massive police hunt and public appeal for information.

Police recovered the body of a man in a rock fall area near Castle Rock yesterday, but have yet to formally identify him.

However, his brother's confirmed the news over Facebook.

He wrote he doesn't know much - but he'll miss his little brother, who was taken too early.

Police have referred the man's death to the coroner, and investigations are continuing.
