The Singaporean government now has a financial stake in the success of Auckland's central city.

Goodman Property Trust sold 49% of its Auckland Viaduct properties to the Singapore Government's sovereign wealth fund GIC late last year.

The Overseas Investment Office has now approved to the sale.

The controversial joint venture has been slammed by some unit holders, who say the strategic properties were sold for a very low price.
