Figures released by Paymark show Kiwis have spent more than ever this festive season.

A record-breaking four $404 million was spent through the Paymark network on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

Two hundred and $63 million went through Paymark’s systems on Christmas Eve - up 10 point five percent on the same day last year.

Spokesman Mark Spicer says that’s Paymark’s biggest day on record.

Boxing Day also gave retailers a boost – with nearly $141 million spent across the country – up 4.8 percent on Boxing Day 2013.
