New Zealand Oil and Gas is reporting previously untapped gas reserves at the Kupe field, offshore Taranaki.
The company says these are preliminary results of testing and further analysis will be required to establish the quantity of the gas reserve.
It says early test results are positive with increased gas and condensate rates detected.
