It's not what the Reserve Banks wants.
The New Zealand dollar has further strengthened overnight, reaching 71.45 US cents, the highest it's been since mid December.
Westpac market strategist Imre Spizer says it's a result of a weaker US dollar, with the market in sell mode after the disappointment of not getting any fiscal policy direction from Donald Trump yesterday.
"It's got the potential to run a little bit higher to just over 72 US cents. I can see that happening over the next few days." Spizer said.
