The Commerce Commission has decided the merger of two companies supplying personal lubricants is not on.
Reckitt Benckiser Group, owners of Durex, had applied to buy out Johnson & Johnson’s K-Y brand and product assets.
Both supply personal lubricants to New Zealand supermarkets and pharmacies.
The Commerce Commission says the buy out will lessen competition .
It says it can not exclude the real chance that as a result of this merger, Durex and K-Y’s wholesale prices would increase.
