Oil Free Otago has told the crew of the offshore seismic ship being used by Anadarko, it isn't welcome in our waters.
The ship is about to head into the waters off the east coast of the South Island to look for potential reserves of natural gas and oil.
This morning it was welcomed by banners saying, 'go away, you are not welcome here'.
Oil Free Otago says it's protesting to stand up for the marine animals who live around the proposed drilling sites.
Spokesperson, Bell Murphy says they'll continue to fight for some time yet.
"Well a campaign like this is long term and involves lots of different tactics and methods."
