The Green Party is expected to go ahead with a meeting of its delegates tonight.

It's a sign Labour might have the nod to form the next government.

Our newsroom understands Labour was the preference for NZ First and wanted an arrangement that would put NZ First ministers in Cabinet and give the Greens’ ministerial roles outside Cabinet.

The Greens have called a teleconference with its delegates for seven o'clock tonight.

Greens leader James Shaw has told Newstalk ZB: "There will be a delegate conference call tonight. The vote will be on our proposed agreement with Labour. I have no comment on whether NZ First are likely to go with National or Labour."
