A shake-up could be on the cards for Auckland's council-controlled organisations.
Two proposals are being put to councillors next week.
One would see Waterfront Auckland and Auckland Council Properties merged to form a new organisation.
It would be called Development Auckland, and it would be charged with developing housing and infrastructure, often on spare council land.
That would be cheaper than the current arrangement, but it will have to pass as part of the council's ten-year plan.
The other proposal would see the council take direct control of its diversified financial assets.
