Those opposed to the Ports of Auckland's planned extension of Bledisloe Wharf are not convinced the company will listen to the Auckland Council.
The Council's Development Committee has unanimously decided to fast track the commissioning of a study into the wider impact of the development .
A letter's also being sent to the port company strongly urging it to hold off on the port extension until the completion of the study .
Urban Auckland chair Julie Stout says they're going ahead with their High Court action challenging the consent process.
"Nothing substantial has really changed and we're still issuing our requests for a judicial review."
Chief planning officer Dr Roger Blakeley told councillors their request to have the Bledisloe Wharf extension suspended, will also be passed on.
"The council cannot direct the port. I think you can take it that there'll be some very hard conversations held with the port
to try and ensure that they are encouraged to do what's being asked here."
