The lingering conditions of Cyclone Pam have forced two iconic cruise ships to make surprise visits to Auckland.
It's believed to be the first time since the 1940s two "queens" have been in the harbour at the same time.
Queen Victoria left late last night, and Ports of Auckland spokesman Matt Ball says the massive Queen Mary II arrived yesterday afternoon.
"She's different from other cruise ships, she's white not black, and she's very elegant."
The impromptu visits of Queen Mary II and Queen Victoria are expected into inject nearly two-million dollars into the local economy.
Matt Ball says the massive Queen Mary II has also forced the port to change its plans.
"The only place she can sit on the waterfront is Jelicoe Wharf, so all of the freight has stopped and we have passengers instead."
