Another unwanted busy period for police in South Auckland tonight.

Tonga play England in the Rugby League World Cup semifinals - meaning dozens of police will out in force

There have been more than 60 arrests in the suburb over the last three weekends of the tournament and a female police officer has been knocked out.

Area Commander for Counties Manukau West Inspector Naila Hassan said unfortunately they expect the same kind of behaviour out of Otahuhu tonight.

"We're just trying to help everyone make it an enjoyable and memorable event, and keep everyone safe."

"For some reason, Police seem to be targeted by some of these groups, which is disgusting."

"And I can assure you we will not be tolerating the level of disgusting behaviour - just outright aggression towards the Police."

"Why can't they just go out there and enjoy themselves," she added.
