There's plenty to celebrate with Auckland's 175th birthday this weekend.

Dozens of events are planned around the city to mark the special occasion.

Auckland Seafood Festival, International Buskers Festival and Love the Sea are all on over the next three days.

Ports of Auckland and Stardome will also open its doors.... and there are events planned for the Waterfront and Silo Park.

On Saturday, they'll be a blessing of a Hindu temple under construction in West Auckland and the Cloud Christian music festival at QBE.

New Zealand's richest horse race, the Karaka Million, is planned for Sunday.

Monday's also busy, with the Laneway music festival and 175th Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta.

• Queens Wharf and Shed 10 official events - 24-26 January - free alcohol-free events and multimedia exhibition, lower Queen Street closed
• HMNZS Otago - 24-25 January - open Saturday from 10am - 6pm and Sunday from 10am-3pm with concert 5.30 Sunday
• Fireworks - 25 January - Harbour/Sky Tower Fireworks display at 9.30pm
