There's some relief for central Auckland households today as fruit fly restrictions ease.
The Ministry for Primary Industries has loosened fruit and vegetable movement controls for those in the A Zone in Grey Lynn. The suburb hasn't seen a fruit fly for two months.
Acting Chief Operations Officer Steve Gilbert is very confident they know where the infestation is - in the area around Wexford Road, between Great North Road and the northwestern motorway.
He says those a fair way away from this spot, need no longer adhere to the toughest fruit and vegetable controls.
Residents can check if they're in that group on the MPI website.
