A massive electrical storm in part of Auckland has left some Mt Eden residents without power this afternoon.

The thunder and lightning storm hit around midday.

A Vector spokesman said the company had received reports of power outages on Croydon Road, Fairview Road, Henley Road and Woodside Road.

Power's expected to be back on about now (3-4pm).

Meanwhile, some Mt Roskill residents are also without power after a car hit a power pole just after midday.
