Some news to celebrate for Al Brown's fire-damaged eatery Depot - it's been crowned Auckland's top restaurant.
It's won the Metro Peugeot Restaurant of the Year while five-time previous supreme award winner The French Cafe is the runner up.
Depot has also taken out the the Best City Bistro award.
The restaurant was shut down by a crippling fire the day the Metro judges had their final meeting to decide the 2015 winners.
Metro editor Simon Wilson has described Depot’s win as “triumphant”, saying the food is terrific, the service is outstanding and the atmosphere exciting.
He says the judges are especially pleased to award Depot the supreme prize in the wake of the fire it suffered just a few weeks ago.
It remains closed for now.
