The Auckland train strike is over.
Transdev and the Rail and Maritime Transport Union reached an agreement on Monday, after safety concerns were raised by workers when Auckland Transport outlined plans to transfer the responsibility for opening and closing train doors from train managers to train drivers.
Industrial action began on February 26, causing disruption for commuters and returning university students as the trains ran with reduced frequency, and was scheduled to run until March 16.
Peak services on the southern, western and eastern lines were affected by the action.
The agreement reached on Monday said the union and Transdev had resolved to work constructively to resolve outstanding issues, including driver door operation.
The two parties will "enter a new process with an open mind", according to a press release put out.
