Good news for the future of Albert Park in Auckland - it'll be receiving lighting and cameras to heighten security.

The 'Reclaim our Park' rally, organised by students, saw around 60 people share their concerns about safety in the park following a spate of attacks on international students.

Auckland University Students' Association president Will Matthews says he announced the security upgrades to the crowd this evening.

"We've collected in a bunch of surveys from attendees about safety... which is going to feedback into the process we've already begun with the Council and Police to install better safety features in the park."

Matthews said a programme of evening events will also be planned to change a culture of fear into one of activity for the park going forward.
