Right-wing Auckland councillors are describing a council debate on transport as a ratepayer-funded "gabfest for public transport lefties".
They have criticised tonight's fully-registered debate at Aotea Centre covering issues like extra rates, petrol taxes and motorway tolls.
Councillor Dick Quax says right-wing voices haven't been included, and councillor George Wood says motoring advocates haven't been invited to take part.
"The people they've got presenting are from one side of the argument - that is, that roads and motorways are bad."
Auckland mayor Len Brown is taking part in the debate.
So are representatives from Waitemata Local Board, Transport Blog, Generation Zero and Auckland Transport.
Generation Zero Auckland director Sudhvir Singh told NZME the city needs to work towards a congestion-free transport system.
Transport Blog editor Patrick Reynolds says extra rates wouldn't be fair or practical.
