Roddick suffers blow ahead of US Open

American Andy Roddick has suffered a blow ahead of his US Tennis Open campaign later this month.

The 16th seeded Roddick has been beaten 7-6, 6-3 in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters by Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.

It's Roddick's last tournament ahead of the Open.
