Swimming New Zealand are in a holding pattern as they await the final recommendations of a damning review into their organisation.
Chris Moller presented his report to regions over the weekend.
It recommends the board and CEO Mike Byrne step aside for the betterment of the sport.
Chairman Ross Butler says they have to wait until the final publication of the report.
"It'd be totally inappropriate for the board to come out and say what's going to happen because this is the review group that's making the recommendations and they'll come up with the final set of steps that swimming should take."
He says with the review still in the draft stage they need to wait before making changes.
"We won't be doing anything rash in the very short term, we'll be providing that caretaker role until the findings, the final findings, of the working group are published."
Ross Butler says the initial reaction to the findings has been positive as they believe it's their one big chance to get it right.
