Kiwi swimmers set to open Olympic campaign tonight

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Swimming News | Sunday July 29 2012 17:27

New Zealandâ s leading performer from last yearâ s world swimming championships opens her Olympic campaign tonight.

Lauren Boyle is lining-up in the heats of the 400 metre freestyle, an event she finished sixth in at last yearâ s worlds.

Boyle says it is hard to know where she is capable of finishing in London.

"I can't control how fast anybody else swims, I can only do as well as I can. I would love to do personal best times that would be really great."

Talented kiwi backstroker Gareth Kean also opens his campaign on day two of the Games.

Kean and Daniel Bell will be in action in the 100 metre backstroke.
