Jonathan Paget on Clifton Promise has moved into third place in the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event after a clear cross country round.

Paget finished the dressage stage in fifth and boosted his position in being one of eight to go clear and inside time on the course.

Teammate Andrew Nicholson did likewise, moving from 25th position into ninth riding Qwanza.

Nicholson's other ride Calico Joe retired at the ninth fence, while Lucy Jackson and Kilcoltrim Ambassador were eliminated during the race.

The showjumping phase of the event is tomorrow morning.
