Kenyan Olympics squad omits three former champions

By: Matt Brown | Other Sport News | Thursday April 26 2012 12:18

World marathon record holder Patrick Makau and former London and Boston champions Emmanuel Mutai and Geoffrey Mutai have been left out of the Kenya squad for the London Olympics.

In a surprise move, the Kenyan team selectors say they've been forced to name the team earlier than expected to end all the speculation.

The men's squad includes this year's London marathon winner Wilson Kipsang, who is also the second fastest runner in world and two-time world champion Abel Kirui, who finished sixth in the London marathon.
