The IRB has bent the rules to induct Gordon Tietjens into the Hall of Fame. The New Zealand sevens coach has received the honour after guiding his side to a 10th world crown by gaining enough points at the London leg by finishing third. Usually, inductees are required to have stepped down from coaching or playing duties for at least three years. Tietjens says it's an award for everyone. "And I can only thank the players that have really contributed to the successes in the game that I've been coaching and I owe them so much and it's great also today to see Tomasi Cama recognised." Cama was awarded the IRB Sevens Player of the Year. |
