The theory of Dan Carter starting at second five this year for the All Blacks in their upcoming series against Ireland has been grounded. Carter's started at second five for the Crusaders in recent weeks on his return from a groin injury. Coach Steve Hansen last week suggested Carter could start in the 12 jersey, but now says he'll only move there mid-game. "At some point he probably may have to play there but that will be more because of what our bench looks like rather than where we want to play him. If he starts for the All Blacks, it'll be at 10 in the June series." Aaron Cruden and Beauden Barrett have joined Carter as the pivots options in the All Blacks 35-man training squad. |
