Mystics into major semifinal

By: Andy Rowe | Latest Netball News | Monday July 2 2012 6:43

The Northern Mystics are into the ANZ Championship major semifinal.

The Mystics have come from four goals down in the final quarter to beat the New South Wales Swifts 50-49 in Auckland.

The result means they finish second in the regular season and will travel to Melbourne to face the Vixens on Sunday with the winner to host the grand final.

Goal attack Maria Tutaia says winning in Melbourne during the regular season will help her side.

"We are definitely going to go in there with great confidence, we've beaten them before, but just knowing that if we do the basics well, man we're unstoppable."

Tutaia says it was great getting that win against the Vixens but finals netball is a totally different ball game.

Tutaia says Cathrine Latu's 100 percent shooting record was a key.

"I'm living the dream, I get to play with Irene van Dyk, who is the pinnacle of any goal shooter and I get to do it with Cathrine Latu who is pretty close."

Latu shot a perfect 26 from 26 for the Mystics, with Susan Pratley nailing a game high 32 from 34 attempts for the Swifts.

The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic will host the minor semifinal with a win over the Queensland Firebirds tonight in Hamilton.
