Warriors start strong, but don't deliver

By: Elliott Smith | Latest Rugby League News | Saturday July 21 2012 21:53

The Warriors have let a strong start fall by the wayside in their NRL match with the Newcastle Knights, going down 24-19 at Mount Smart Stadium.

The home side exploded into the match with three tries in the opening 20 minutes through Nathan Friend, Shaun Johnson and Ben Matulino.

However, from then on it was largely one way traffic with a James Maloney field goal just before halftime the only other resistance to the Knights' attacking flair.

Akuila Uate, Wes Naiqama, Timana Tahu and Dane Gagai all dotted down for the visitors.

It leaves the Warriors outside of the competition's top 8 for another week.
