Warriors crushed for second straight week

By: Nick Walker | Latest Rugby League News | Saturday August 11 2012 23:18

The Warriors hopes of making the NRL finals are well and truly over, with a 52-12 demolition at the hands of the Cowboys in Townsville.

The visitors were never in the hunt, conceding four tries in the opening 20 minutes and eventually allowing in nine in total.

The Warriors lost backrower Elijah Taylor before kickoff, who returned home to New Zealand following the death of his father, but that was offset by James Maloney's premature return from a knee injury.

In a night of very few positives, captain Manu Vatuvei scored his hundredth try for the club with the final act of the game.

It's a new low for the Warriors this season, having conceded 97 points in the last two games.

They're now playing for nothing but pride for the final three games of the year.
