New Zealand Cricket is sticking by the selection process that's seen Mike Hesson named new coach of the Black Caps. Hesson will take over the side after the tour of the West Indies, with only nine of NZC's initial list of 26 showing interest in the job. Director of Cricket John Buchanan says Hesson's the best man for the job. "Was a very, very robust and detailed process so in the end we got the right man." Buchanan says those that didn't apply mostly did so because of family reasons. "The consistent feedback from the guys that decided not to, was just family. Most of them are at a stage where they all have young children and really couldn't commit to applying for the job in the first place." He's adamant it's not a case of Mike Hesson being the last man standing. Photo: Photosport |
